Sample answer:
The diagram illustrates the various stages involved in the cultivation of pineapples and the subsequent production of pineapple-related goods.
Overall, the process begins with the growth of pineapple plants from crowns under specific temperature conditions. This is followed by the harvesting of mature pineapples, which are then either turned into juice, canned, or waxed for export.
Initially, pineapple plants are cultivated from crowns in an environment with temperatures ranging between 23 to 30°C. The plants take approximately seven months to grow to a height of 26 centimeters. Once they reach this stage, they undergo a five-month period during which they are exposed to ethylene gas. This exposure results in the growth of fully mature pineapples that are about 30 centimeters tall and weigh around 2 kilograms.
Once harvested, the pineapples are processed in different ways. Some are sent directly to an extractor, where they are converted into juice. Others undergo a canning process; the pineapples are peeled, sliced, and then packed into cans. Additionally, a portion of the harvested pineapples is coated with wax, a treatment that preserves them for export. (181 words)
